Knight Online is an old but constantly updated MMORPG that is known for its core playerbase and complex team PvP combat. The game looks like a World of Warcraft clone but unlike World of Warcraft’s questing and story elements, Knight Online solely focuses on PvP which is a easy to learn but hard to master. What is more, Knight Online rewards you if you join in a party and play with more people, which creates unique battles and makes you feel like a knight on battlefield.
Time to Shine
Starting the game is pretty simple. First you select your server, then you are looking at character class creation screen. First you need to select your race. There are two races, El Morad and Karus. El Morad are humans and Karus are orcs that looks like they came from Tolkien’s world. After you select your race you need to select your class. There are 6 classes in game whom you can choose:
- Warrior which can specialize in two handed weapons for offense or one hand & shield for defense
- Rogue which uses a Bow to defeat its enemies from long range or uses two daggers to backstab and assasinate enemies
- Mage which uses fire staff for purely damage or uses ice staff to slow down enemies and finish them off
- Priest which equips a one handed weapon and shield to fight, debuff and protect its party or equips a healing staff to heal , protect and buff its party from harm
- Kurian/Portu which uses its beast form to deal high damage and become a unkillable monster against his enemies
“Perhaps,” she thought, “I should adopt these children as my own.”

The Roots of War
Once you selected your class and race, you can now start the game but i must warn, you can not go back to change your race and even gender. Both your gender and race are important because different gender and classes has different stats! For example female warrior will have more dexterity but a male priest will have more strength. That is why you need to be careful which class and gender you are picking. Speaking of stats, there are 5 stats you need to consider when you start customizing your character:
- Strength
- Dexterity
- Health
- Magic Power
- Intelligence
Now it’s time to farm! You need to kill monsters and do quests to become better and gain items. The game unfortunately doesn’t offer much quests unlike World of Warcraft but the storyline is written uniquely compared to other copypaste MMORPG’s.
The story starts with Logos, a powerful being, shaping the world of Carnac with its powers including El Morad, the humans. It gave life to everything, including Pathos a powerful energy left abandoned. Pathos waited patiently, but Logos never came to shape him to something meaningful. Pathos could not take it anymore, therefore he became vicious, he started attacking every creation shaped by Logos. He created Karus which helped him fighting his battles against El Morad. Some El Morad decided to fight back and emerged victorious and people started to call them Knights.
Time is Money
One of the important point of the game of Knight is that trading. You can basically become rich by just staying in main city, Moradon. There is no control of market price, therefore you can sell your hardly earned items from monsters any price! That is why a lot of people just runs around Moradon, buys wares from other player and tries to, re-sell them for a higher price. You can bargain items from a player who doesn’t know the market price value. There is a problem with this though, not a lot new players comes to game so experienced players know which item is valued more.
The game has extensive PvP zones such as Ardream at 59 level and Ronarkland at 80 level. Players here can gather parties, fight each other for prestige and kill monsters to drop items. It becomes very competitive because every monster you fight can drop powerful items and it can give you an edge in the server against other players. That is why you need to have a good party and you need to have good gear before going here.
Continuing on PvP, there are some events such as Lunar Wars, Castle Siege and Border Defense War which makes players feel equal and fight with each other. The players fight in a massively scaled battles which they are led with Siege Commanders. These Siege Commanders are players and sometimes events they are led by King. King leads clans to battle for prestige, and players select the King in a monthly basis. Basically you can become a leader that leads other players into battle!
There are some downsides for this game though, the game is still riddled with bugs because of its ancient engine. The developers do not care for the game much, therefore same persistent bugs still are in game. Even though developers do not care, The fanbase still cares for the game, they are still addicted to playing.
Another point is that the Free to Play, Pay to Win system. For most game modes, in order to barely survive in PvP combat, you need to spend some in game currency. Because of its competitiveness, Knight Online developers tries to milk it by giving unfair advantages to people who spend money. Therefore it creates an unfair enviroment for free to play players. I should say that though you can negate this by joining a strong and fair clan who helps other players and let everyone have fun.
I think I’ve covered most topics in Knight Online, it is an amazing game that has extensive trade system, unique and fun PvP style modes and you can expect a competitive gameplay. I would recommend it for players who likes grinding, socializing with players and tactical battles.
